Matthew 28:17-19 NKJV – All authority, every victory is Yours.

“When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

By the authority given by God the Father, Jesus commissions the disciples to “Go”.  Since Jesus’ dominion is universal, the gospel must go to the whole world.  God’s great promise that in Abraham all the nations would be blessed is ready to be fulfilled.  (Genesis 12:3)

Jesus proclaims the right He was given by the Father to speak and act on His Father’s behalf in forgiving sin, pronouncing judgment and promising eternal life to those who believe in Him.  But as I read this scripture, there is so much more imparted to us.

It speaks of God’s never ending desire to spend eternity with us.  His Son, our Savior, Jesus was the only way this could be accomplished.  Every single step Jesus took was focused on that thought.  I’ve come to redeem the world.  Jesus has all authority over sin, over nature, over sickness and disease, over all evil, even over death.

By His Holy Spirit we are given the same power Jesus has to overcome all that we face, all that the world will throw at us, because it’s Jesus power and not our own.  The same power that overcame everything.  “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”  (Luke 4:18 NKJV)

In this scripture, Jesus sends His disciples to continue His work by proclaiming His message of Salvation.  Empowered by the Holy Spirit, His disciples go.  Jesus mission was for all nations.  All mankind.  All of us.  You and me and everyone in between.  What incredible love to suffer and endure the cross.  To die and be raised so that we can be partakers in the most blessed assurance of all.  To be where Jesus is.  “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”  (John 14:1-3 NKJV)

Such love proclaimed by the Son of God, Jesus, for us.  He says for us not to be troubled.  To simply believe and then He will prepare a place for us for all eternity.  Jesus Christ, the Messiah, our Savior, and soon coming King.  God’s Holy Scripture ends with this passage, “He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” (Revelations 22:20-21 NKJV)

Friend, the authority of God Himself has been given to us through His Son, Jesus to proclaim the gospel.  The same power that lived in Jesus lives in us.  The same power that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us.  Sin and death has no power over us.

Precious Lord, thank You for Your power to go.  To reach a lost and dying world.

Thank You for giving Your life so that we can partake in Your salvation.

Thank You Lord that we, too, will overcome by Your blood.

All authority and every victory is Yours.

Your worthy of all honor and glory and praise.

In Jesus Name.  AMEN.

Don’t believe me, believe God!
