Acts 4:11-12 NKJV – A name above all other names

This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

His name is Jesus; He is our Rock.  We rely on Him for our ultimate protection and for our eternal salvation.  We call to Him when we are in need.  He is our very present help in those times.  When we grieve, He sends His Holy Spirit to wash over us.  When we pray, He intercedes.  He is our all in all.

He was rejected and scorned; beaten and scarred.  He accepted His calling and suffered and died so that we would live.  His love is everlasting and eternal.  His mercy and grace endures forever.  He is our peace and He establishes our steps.  He walks with us and He talks to us.  He is our Shepherd and we know His voice.  When we weep, He also weeps.  When we rejoice and give Him praise, He dances over us.  He is our brother and our King.  He is Lord over all things.

He is worthy to be praised.  He is our fortress and our security.  He is our strong tower.  He is the Lord who saves.  His is our Passover lamb.  He is our mediator and high priest.  He is our deliverer and redeemer.  He is our bridegroom.

His name is Jesus and He is our Savior.  He saves us to the uttermost.  He saves us from physical danger.  “Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”  But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.” (Matthew 8:25-26 NKJV)  He saves us from the power of sin.  “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”(1 John 1:7 NKJV)  He saves us from the power of death.  “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4 NKJV)  He saves us to bring us back to God and give us eternal life.  “And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40 NKJV)

You see, there is no other name, but the name of Jesus.  “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV) And He is calling you.  He is calling us into His glorious presence.  He is calling us to meet with Him, to talk with Him, to pray to Him, to hold on to Him.  His is our Messiah, our King, our Lord, our teacher, our brother, and the lover of our souls.

Friend, have you met our chief cornerstone?  Have you met Jesus?  He is as close as your first whisper.  He is as close as your first utterance of His name.  When you call upon Him, He runs to you.  His desire is to give you eternal life.  “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)  Would you like to meet Jesus right now?  You can.

Jesus, I am here and I want to know You.  I’m calling Your name.  I am a sinner.  I’m scared, I’m worried, I’m confused, I need You, Jesus.  Come into my life and be my Savior.  You loved me so much that You suffered and died for me.  You defeated my sin and my death when You rose from the grave.  I need You Jesus.  Come now Lord into my heart.  I submit my life to You.  Pour out Your mercy and grace.  Meet me at my point of need.  I pray in Your Name Jesus; the name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.  Amen

Don’t believe me, believe God!
