Psalm 9:10 NKJV – Who do you trust?

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.

What an incredible and comforting promise in God’s Word.  By this Scripture, we know that we serve a faithful and loving God in whom we can place our trust and that He will not turn away from us when we seek Him.

Thomas A. Kempis, a 15th Century German canon wrote, “Lord, what can I trust in this life, or what is my greatest comfort of all the things which are seen under heaven?  You are my hope, You are my trust, You are my Comforter, and most faithful in all things.”

I don’t know about you, but I believe the world is full of broken promises and misguided trust.  The world will disappoint, time after time after time.  God’s Word is full of promises that won’t disappoint and that we can trust because God is faithful.  Thomas Kempis understood this.  He also is quoted as saying, “If, however, you seek Jesus in all things, you will surely find Him.” (The Imitation of Christ, Book II, Chapter 7)

The last few weeks, God has impressed upon me how faithful He is, how we can trust Him, and that God’s Word is the truth and He will accomplish that which He promises.  And we need to believe.  This Scripture verse tells us what we as believers should do because God will not fail.  What else do we need to know?

God is faithful – “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9 NKJV)

God can be trusted – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall directyour paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV)

God will not leave us – “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV)

God is able – “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV)

God expects us to believe – “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6 NKJV)

Friend, the Lord will not turn you away.  You can put your trust and your faith in the Lord.  The Lord is our everything.  Don’t place your trust in the world, but place your trust in the One who spoke into existence all things.  Place your trust in the Lord, “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,  to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:19-20 NKJV)

Dear Lord, thank You that we can place our trust in You.  Thank You that You will not forsaken those who seek You.  Teach us Lord, each day to lean on You and turn towards You.  Forgive us Lord when we look to the world for promises and to place our trust.  Keep us strong, Holy Spirit, when times of weakness come upon us.  Thank You Lord for Your faithfulness to lead and direct us.  In Jesus Name.  AMEN.

 Don’t believe me, believe God!
