In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
The Lord can take us to a place of rest and He will be our confidence and strength. We will be victorious. What an awesome Scripture. The truth in God’s Word is awe inspiring. When meditating on this verse, I’m brought to a thought about the Power of God to save and to bring into my life strength to meet every challenge. I don’t have to walk a life in Christ by myself. The Lord is with me. He is my strength and my shield. “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge; my Savior, You save me from violence.” (2 Samuel 22:3 NKJV)
To be at rest spiritually is to find peace with God through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV) And God promises His people spiritual rest. “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9 NKJV)
I admit that there are times when I am not at rest; when I am struggling to “keep my head above water”. We all know what I am referring to. We will have those kinds of days. Hopefully those days are few. But we’re fallible humans who make mistakes. But thanks for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I surely would rather have more days of quiet confidence in Christ’ strength than restless anxiety in my own strength. Can I get an AMEN from anyone out there?
When we place our trust in Jesus and return to Him, He promises to give us rest; the kind of rest that cannot be defined in basic human emotions. It can only be defined in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, which is derived from reliance upon God and His promises alone. When we do this, it results in boldness and be steadfast in service and in the face of any difficulty.
Friend, Jesus is waiting for us to return to Him and in returning He will take us to a place of rest where we can partake in His strength. Let’s take the time to pray and seek Jesus and all He has for us. We have all we need in “In Christ Alone!”
Dear Lord, thank You for Your rest; a place of confidence and strength. Forgive us Lord when we move away from you and into our own strength. Help us to overcome by the Power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name. AMEN
Don’t believe me, believe God!
