Psalm 139:1-2 NKJV – When I think about the Lord… (with video)

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.  You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.

God is all-knowing and has an intimate knowledge of us.  God’s omniscience knows all things of the past, present and future.  What is hidden from human sight is still known by God.  God’s knowledge is complete.  “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30 NKJV)  You might say that God has a comprehensive knowledge of people.  Comprehensive knowledge is defined as having or exhibiting wide mental grasp completely covering everything.  There is nothing God doesn’t know.

God has knowledge of our actions.  “For His eyes are on the ways of man, and He sees all his steps.” (Job 34:21 NKJV)

God has knowledge of our hearts and minds.  “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV)

God has knowledge of people’s needs.  “Therefore do not be like them.  For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” (Matthew 6:8 NKJV)

Really, when you think about all of this, it is truly amazing.  God is complete, faultless and totally sufficient in every aspect of His being.  This perfection is made known in Jesus.

God’s work is perfect.  “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, a God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.” (Deuteronomy 32:4 NKJV)

God’s will is perfect.  “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

God’s words are perfect.  “The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.” (Psalm 12:6 NKJV)

God’s faithfulness is perfect.  “O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” (Isaiah 25:1 NKJV)

And God’s love is perfect.  “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.” (1 John 3:1 NKJV)

Because of what I know and what I believe of God, it causes me to want to spend more time with Him.  It causes me to seek Him even harder.  It causes me to fear Him even more.  It causes me to rejoice that the God of all things knows me intimately and is as close as a whisper when I pray.

When I think about the Lord…  Yes, it makes me want to shout, Hallelujah, thank You Jesus, Lord, Your worthy of all the glory, and all the honor, and all the praise.

Precious Lord, You know everything about us.  You know our comings and our goings.  You know what we think, what we do, and what we need.  Your work in us is perfect.  Your will for us is perfect.  Your Word is perfect.  Your faithfulness is perfect.  And Your love is perfect.  All of this is manifested in Your Son, Jesus.  Our author and finisher of our faith.  You are truly amazing.  When I think about You Lord, I shout Hallelujah!  For Your glory and honor and praise, in Jesus Name.  AMEN

Don’t believe me, believe God!
