Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for ‘Yah’, the Lord is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation
Recently, dear friends of my wife and I sent us a card of encouragement that included the above Scripture. What a blessing it was to receive their love and encouragement in the Lord. God is the source of our salvation. The double reference to the name of the Lord is a poetic emphasis on the certainty of salvation provided by Yahweh, the covenant God.
As God’s children we know Him in a personal way. My wife and I know Him in a personal and a relational way. We spend time with God. We talk to Him and He speaks to us. Our prayers are our conversation to Him. So our knowledge of God comes from the study of His Word and the daily time in prayer with Him.
When we have conversation, many times God returns to us His loving care and provision for me and my wife. That’s the relational part of our time with Him. He loves to pour out His love. Our dear friends returned the love the Lord has for them to us. The time they took to send us a quick note illuminated the love of Christ that lives in them. And isn’t that what we all should be doing? Love others as Christ loves us.
The Scripture verse says a lot about where our trust should be found. Trust in a Holy and Almighty God; the source of our life and our salvation. It says “with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Our joy comes from an everlasting spring that fills His wells and provides for us all that we need including eternal life. That is why this short note meant so much to us. It reminded us of the covenant relationship God established with His people. That He will be our God and we will be His people, forevermore.
Our strength to endure each and every day in this world comes from God. He gives us strength. He enables us to be courageous in trials and troubles, in sickness and tribulation through His gift of faith. God proves Himself faithful to His promises, which in turn enables us to trust Him every day. And our courage and strength begins with the time my wife and I spend in daily prayer. “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV)
Friend, we as believers are called to have a growing faith, build up by prayer and the encouragement of others. Our confidence is a God-given assurance which produces spiritual maturity and stability, so we may withstand the adverse conditions of life. The key to our staying strong and trusting God no matter what begins with a relationship. Daily prayer and seeking the presence of God is the wellspring that we can tap to receive everlasting and restorative joy. The Lord is your strength and your song. Let Him fill you up to overflowing.
Dear Lord, thank You that You are our strength and our song. Thank You that we can trust You and not be afraid no matter what we are facing. Thank You Lord for our dear friends who encouraged us in our time of need and shared with us Your Word. Teach us Lord to turn towards You and trust only You instead of the promises of this world. Pour out Your favor and blessing upon our dear friends as they shared Your love in them with us. Lord, You are our strength and our song. You have become our salvation. In Jesus Name. AMEN
Don’t believe me, believe God!
