Psalm 89:1 NKJV – I called upon Your name and You delivered me

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

The mercies of the Lord are truly new every morning and I will surely sing His praises. God is faithful. God’s faithfulness demonstrates His steadfast love. Steadfast love meaning forever new and never failing for all time. God’s nature, His deeds and His attributes are incomparable. He deserves our highest praise.

The previous 3 or 4 days have been spent in a hospital recovering from surgery. Never was the surgery life threatening, but it caused me some concern due to the unknown. I have spent a number of hours these past days in the place of trying to figure everything out. Quickly followed by turning it over to the Lord and submitting everything into His hands. But there were times of fear and worry. I’m human like everyone else. And I had to pray through this. But bless the Name of the Lord that throughout all of the fear and worry, the Lord never turned away from me, but instead He drew me closer. God’s mercies demonstrate His love for us.

God’s love is great. “For Your mercy is great above the heavens, and Your truth reaches to the clouds.” (Psalm 108:4 NKJV) Each and every time I went to the Lord in fear or in worry, His gentle touch came over me and He drew me. “He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.” (Psalm 18:16 NJV) Sometimes deliverance of things we face seems overwhelming. But when God draws us it is His strength and His wisdom that ensures true freedom. God’s love is great and His mercies are new and God bestows great gifts.

Gifts from God change us, they renew us, they challenge us, they deliver us, they heal us, and they save us. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJV) These gifts come from God’s loving heart. What I’m trying to convey is this; God loves and He is love. His love will never change and His love endures forever. His love and His mercies are new for everything single thing we face. All we need to do is seek Him and ask. “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV)

If we need a touch from God for what we are facing, we simply have to seek Him and ask. God’s desire is that all people should seek after him and find him. Those who seek God with all their heart are rewarded. It’s God’s faithfulness that rewards those who earnestly seek Him. And seeking God begins with prayer. Through His grace, He gives things which we do not deserve, while through His mercy He shields us from those things which we do deserve.

Friend, I sing the praises of the Lord because He bestowed mighty and wonderful mercies in my time of need. When I called upon His name, He drew me, He loved me, He healed me, He comforted me, He was my all in all. And this everlasting, faithful love is available to anyone who calls on the name of the Lord. God is waiting for your call of need. God is waiting for your humble heart to come to Him in prayer. God is waiting to bestow His mercies over your life. Will you pray and call upon His name? Will you submit yourself humbly to the Lord and allow Him to draw you close?

Precious Lord, thank You for Your faithful mercies. Thank You that You are near when we call upon You. Thank You that You will always be as close as a whisper. Thank You that You see our weakness and become strong for us. Guide us to always call upon You in our times of need. In Jesus Name. AMEN.

Don’t believe me, believe God!
