Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Today, I’m fairly upset with the world who attempts to direct judgment on others based on what power they presume they have. I apologize in advance, but the indignation that’s in me today stems from others forcing their thoughts and opinions on me that I simply don’t agree with.
Our Scripture verse says for us to be “anxious for nothing”. Well, that’s where I am deciding to reside today regardless of what others want to direct. And I am to “give thanks in everything by prayer and supplication.” I’m determined to remain in prayer and make my requests known to God over this as well. The result of being obedient to this Scripture is the peace of God. Hallelujah! God’s peace will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. The peace of God is a direct response to the prayer of anxiety.
I have learned that it is important for me to focus on what my reality is. What I mean to say is, no matter what the world around me wants me to accept and believe in, it is important for me to test it against the Word of God for truth. Just because the world believes certain things are absolute, it doesn’t mean I have to agree with it. My reality is based on what God’s Word says and not what man thinks or directs. I go to the Lord in prayer and listen for His response and direction. Sometimes God directs my path to go a different way which leads me on to a better result than just going with the crowd. Sometimes God even directs me to follow the direction of those around me so that He can use me to show others the difference in me. But when first challenged with what the world directs, I don’t follow without seeking God first. I’m not being rebellious, I just follow the Word of God. It’s spiritual discipline and it always leads to making the correct decision.
We are to, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:33-34 NKJV) We are to make God’s sovereign rule, and the right relationship with Him, our highest priority. Worry is inconsistent with this priority. Just going along with what everyone else does or determines is inconsistent with this priority. These things doubt the sovereignty of God and distract us. God promises to meet all the needs of those who risk ALL for Him. So when man and the world says to just do what we’re doing or believe what we believe, I don’t. I humbly seek God.
Today, there were individuals who wanted me to make a decision that I was not in favor of. They wanted me to agree that they were correct. I couldn’t do that. Instead, I’ve gone to the God and His Word for my decision. I choose to wait. I choose to pray. I choose to listen for God’s voice. I choose to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall directyour paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV) I choose God first.
Precious Lord, thank You for Your Word. Thank You that You will always direct my paths and guide me as I acknowledge You. I am not anxious Lord, I am thankful. God, You have heard my prayers. Guard my heart and mind so that I can follow Your will for everything I do. Pour out Your peace over me as I trust in You. In Jesus Name. AMEN.
Don’t believe me, believe God!
