1 Corinthians 2:9 The Message – God’s purpose will prevail

No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, never so much as imagined anything quite like it – what God has arranged for those who love Him.

I took this Scripture from “The Message” today because I like how it is stated. “No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this.” What’s being said here is that we can’t comprehend by our own physical senses what God has put together for those who love Him. This Scripture is based on Isaiah 64:4 which says, “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.”

God has always had a plan for His creation which He will certainly accomplish. We can be assured of that. It is carried out through His sovereign hand upon us, His control of all circumstances, and His choice and use of others He brings into our lives. And above all, in the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. God’s purpose stands forever. “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.” (Psalm 33:11 NKJV)

God’s purpose is founded on His divine wisdom. “To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Ephesians 3:10-11 NKJV) God’s purpose is for His own glory. “But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:16 NKJV)

And certainly, God’s ultimate purpose is to save and that salvation coming through His Son, Jesus so that we would be conformed to Him, being holy and blameless, becoming unified though God’s revealed wisdom. And yet we still cannot imagine the magnitude of what God has prepared for us as His will and purpose is established in us. The generosity of God is evident all around us. God bestows gracious gifts in salvation, in sanctification, and through His Holy Spirit. And the ultimate inheritance and gift given through our faith in Jesus Christ is heaven. Heaven is the secure inheritance, of priceless value, awaiting the redeemed. There, faithful service will be rewarded and the redeemed will be given resurrection bodies for service in the heavenly realm.

Friend, no eye has seen nor ear has heard nor any knowledge entered into the heart of man the things God has in store for those who believe on His Son, Jesus. And one day, we will celebrate the gift and the glory of Jesus Christ, Himself. Oh What a Savior!!!

Glorious God, thank You for the inheritance You have given to us. Thank You that through faith in Your Son, Jesus, Your plan is secure. Thank You for Your generous mercy and grace that gives us hope. Thank You that since the beginning of time You have loved us with an everlasting love and desired to spend eternity with us. Lead us to prayer, O God, to praise You, to thank You, to seek You, and to hear from You. May we daily set our eyes and ears upon You, our gracious and glorious Lord. In Jesus Name. AMEN.

Don’t believe me, believe God!
