My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.
It wasn’t so long ago that I lived in a season of doubt. Doubt about who I was in Christ. There was even a time of “How could God love me.” Yes, this is another scheme of the enemy. Doubt takes a grip and is one of the hardest things to shake. The enemy brings doubt into our minds and this causes us to rationalize away common sense and the knowledge of God. Doubt is a powerful weapon. It causes us to question every single thing we do or thought we have. Literally, it’s like walking on egg shells. Belief sets in that at any given moment, you’ll make another bad choice or fail.
Jesus wants us to know in this verse that we know His voice and when we hear it, we’ll follow after Him. The key is recognizing Jesus’ voice. When we allow the enemy to bring doubt into our minds, it collapses our capability to clearly hear anything from God. It’s like putting on ear muffs.
But our ears can be opened by the One who restored hearing to the deaf, caused the blind to see, set the captives free, and raised the dead. “He, who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Jesus Christ is above all that the enemy throws at us. When we begin to doubt our faith, our walk with God, our existence in Christ, we must say, “Get behind me satan!” and accept the Power of God for victory. It’s only in the strength of God that doubt can be defeated.
Jesus has given us His promise that NOTHING can snatch us from Him. NOTHING! Jesus is our Good Shepherd and He has watch over His sheep. Jesus declares the Power and Authority given to Him by His Father and we can rest in the knowledge that Jesus and the Father are One. (John Chapter 17) There are no hidden messages here.
When we fail and doubt wants to take hold of our thoughts, it is then we must turn toward Jesus and run to Him. We hear Him calling! Run to Him! The cool thing that happens when we do that is we find that Jesus is running toward us. He is looking for the sheep that has gone astray. Hallelujah!!! And when He carries us back, He places us in a position of restoration and love.
Dear Jesus. Thank You that when we keep close to You we can hear Your voice and when we stray, You come after us. Help us to cast away the lies of the enemy that wants to cause our ears to close. Forgive us when we believe the lies and not the truth in You. Thank You for the eternal life we have in You, Jesus. Help us remember that nothing can snatch us from Your hand. Nothing! In Jesus Name. AMEN.
Don’t believe me, believe God!
